Discover the journey of Belek, from its planned development under the leadership of BETUYAB to becoming a global tourism brand.

BETUYAB was established to solve infrastructure problems in the Belek Tourism Center through public–private sector cooperation. The organization was formed as a requirement of the allocations made to tourism investors, bringing investors together under an association.

Institutional Structure Change

Initially established as a limited company, the structure was converted into a joint-stock company in 1991 (with the knowledge of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye).

Scientific Infrastructure and Environmental Studies

In cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and Hacettepe University: A scientific research project was launched to combat mosquitoes, houseflies, and sandflies. The project was completed in 1994.

Continuous Environmental Management

Since 1994, vector (pest) control has been continuously carried out by BETUYAB. The activities have continued with scientific consultancy.

Ecological Transformation

Biological (environmentally friendly) methods were adopted in pest control.

Biodiversity and Conservation Projects

A protection project for sea turtles was initiated. The project was carried out with the aim of becoming an international example. In 2000, it was awarded as a project of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Türkiye and was completed in 2001.

Ecological and Promotional Activities

Within the scope of the “Belek 2000” project: The flora and fauna inventory of the region was compiled. Ecotourism projects were developed. Publications such as “100 Birds of Belek” and “250 Plants of Belek” were prepared. Turkey’s first eco-guide books were produced and distributed free of charge.

International Achievements

Second place in Europe in the British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow Awards.

First place in the world awarded by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

2003–2015

Infrastructure Development

Road, wastewater treatment, telecommunications, and security infrastructure were developed.

In 2003–2004, roads were covered with hot asphalt. In 2006, new transportation roads were completed. In 2013, a divided road connecting Belek to the D400 highway was constructed. In 2015, telecommunications infrastructure was strengthened ahead of the G20 Summit.

Within the current management structure, the activities led by BETUYAB Chairman Ali Özdoğan and Vice Chairman İbrahim Pektaş aim to advance the international brand strength of the Belek destination.

The strategic approach carried out together with Board Members Harika Güral, Kübra Akbalık, Yasin Akkanat, Kaan Kaşif Karaloğlu, Mehmet Akif Tamince, Ayhan Akan Bektaş, Ömer İçkale, Yunus Özdemir, Ramazan Kara, Hüseyin Özgür Nazik, and Mehmet Aygün is shaped around sustainability, high-segment tourism, and destination branding.

During this period, BETUYAB continues its projects with determination to enhance Belek’s global competitiveness by strengthening public–private sector cooperation.
