The Gloria Ironman 70.3 Took Place in Belek for the First Time in Turkey
As part of the European Tour, one of the world’s most popular and challenging races, the Gloria Ironman 70.3, was held for the first time in Turkey on October 25, 2015, in our region with the sponsorship of Gloria Hotels & Resorts, featuring 1,343 athletes from 57 countries.
The Gloria Ironman 70.3 Turkey race was successfully completed with the finish line at the Gloria Sports Arena. A total of 1,224 athletes from 60 different countries completed the race after a 1.9 km swimming stage, followed by 90.2 km of cycling and a 21.1 km run. The youngest athlete was 18 years old, while the oldest was 80. Women made up 25% of the participants.
During the event, 1,000 volunteers supported the operation and athletes along the course and surrounding areas. The race, which turned Antalya into a sports paradise, also attracted significant interest and support from the local community.
At the award ceremony held after the race, the winners in the professional men’s category were: first place Frederik Van Lierde (Belgium), second Paul Schuster (Germany), third Patrick Lange (Germany), fourth Miłosz Sowiński (Poland), and fifth Matthias Knossalla (Denmark). In the women’s category, the winners were: first Alexandra Tondeur (Belgium), second Gurutze Frades (Spain), third Caroline Livesey (United Kingdom), fourth Elisabeth Gruber (Austria), and fifth Arina Halasz (Hungary).
